Effect of therapeutic ultrasound for neck pain: A systematic review and meta- analysis
Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Mar 17, 2021
Qing W, Shi X, Zhang Q, et al. - The effects and safety of therapeutic ultrasound in patients with neck pain were determined via performing a systematic review and meta-analysis. Searching the PubMed, EMBASE, CENTRAL and Physiotherapy Evidence databases, they identified 12 Randomized controlled trials comparing the effects of therapeutic ultrasound on neck pain for inclusion. Findings suggest the possible effectiveness of therapeutic ultrasound in reducing the intensity of pain more than sham or no treatment, and indicate it as a safe treatment. There remains uncertainty regarding if additional benefits on pain intensity, disability or quality of life are produced by combining therapeutic ultrasound with other conventional treatments.
