Effect of the pulmonary embolism rule-out criteria on subsequent thromboembolic events among low-risk Emergency Department patients: The PROPER randomized clinical trial
JAMA Feb 21, 2018
Freund Y, et al. - This trial was designed in order to validate the safety of a pulmonary embolism rule-out criteria (PERC)-based strategy to rule out pulmonary embolism (PE) in Emergency Department patients with a low clinical probability of pulmonary embolism (PE). PERC strategy did not yield an inferior rate of thromboembolic events over 3 months when compared to conventional strategy among very low-risk patients with suspected PE. Hence, experts validated the safety of PERC for very low-risk patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
