Effect of the emergency department assessment of chest pain score on the triage performance in patients with chest pain
The American Journal of Cardiology Oct 15, 2021
Zaboli A, Ausserhofer D, Sibilio S, et al. - The impact of integrating the Emergency Department Assessment of Chest Pain Score (EDACS) into triage evaluation of patients with chest pain was examined on the triage's predictive validity for an acute cardiovascular event.
A single-center prospective observational study.
A total of 1,596 patients who needed a triage admission for chest pain were involved.
First a standard triage assessment was conducted and then the EDACS was calculated for the enrollees.
7.3% had the presence of an acute cardiovascular event.
The baseline assessment of priority assigned in triage improved following EDACS implementation, with a net reclassification improvement of 33.6% .
Overall EDACS showed a good discriminatory capacity for acute cardiovascular events and its implementation in routine triage may result in improved triage performance in patients with chest pain.
