Effect of supplemental simethicone for bowel preparation on adenoma detection during colonoscopy: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Aug 12, 2018
Pan P, et al. - Researchers performed a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials to evaluate the impact of simethicone (SIM) on adenoma detection rate (ADR) during colonoscopy. They searched databases including PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library to find relevant randomized controlled trials. For this investigation, six trials with 1,855 subjects were finally involved. Findings from the present study suggested that supplemental SIM for bowel preparation based on polyethylene glycol helped improve the ADR during colonoscopy.
