Head & Neck Aug 16, 2018
Lebo NL, et al. - In patients with human papillomavirus (HPV)-negative head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), experts ascertained if incidental statin use predicts improved oncologic outcomes. Using linked databases from the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences, they performed a retrospective cohort study of 1,194 patients from the Ontario Cancer Registry diagnosed with HNSCC from 2007 to 2012. At the time of diagnosis of HPV-negative squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the larynx, hypopharynx, and nasopharynx, incidental statin use showed improved overall survival and disease-specific survival.
