Effect of resistance training with and without caloric restriction on visceral fat: A systemic review and meta‐analysis
Obesity Reviews May 21, 2021
Khalafi M, Malandish A, Rosenkranz SK, et al. - Researchers conducted the study for analyzing the impact of resistance training (RT) with and without caloric restriction (CR) on visceral fat (VF). Original articles published through December 2020 were found by searching PubMed and Scopus. The meta‐analysis includes 34 studies with 38 intervention arms and a total of 2,285 participants. When compared with control, RT effectively reduced VF. For both middle‐aged and elderly adults, the reduction in VF was significant, but not for pediatric participants. However, when compared to CR alone, RT plus CR had no superiority effect on VF. According to this systematic review and meta‐analysis, RT may be effective for reducing VF, but adding RT with CR was not related to a greater effect for reducing VF.
