Struck R, et al. - Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) surgery commonly threatens the heart and remote organs with ischemia-reperfusion injury. In this current investigation, it was shown that remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPC) had no impact on intestinal injury in patients undergoing CPB surgery. Furthermore, intestinal injury appeared to be moderate and transient without any clinical relevant complication, as observed in patients undergoing cardiac surgery.
