Chaturvedi AK, et al. - In a cross-sectional study of the US population, including men and women 18 to 33 years of age, researchers looked at the impact of prophylactic human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccination on the burden of oral HPV infection, the principal cause of HPV-positive oropharyngeal cancers. Among young US adults, an association of HPV vaccination with reduced prevalence of vaccine-type oral HPV was noted. However, overall modest population-level effect, which was particularly low in men, was observed due to low vaccine uptake.
