Effect of pelvic lymphadenectomy on survival in patients with low-risk early-stage endometrial cancer diagnosed intraoperatively using frozen tissue sections: A retrospective analysis
Cancer Management and Research Nov 03, 2020
Liu C, Zhao J, Liu S, et al. - Researchers performed a retrospective analysis including 238 patients with the aim to ascertain if patients diagnosed with low-risk early-stage endometrial cancer by intraoperative pathology exhibit improved survival after undergoing pelvic lymphadenectomy. The lymphadenectomy group contained 121 patients and the non-lymphadenectomy group contained 117 patients. The two groups did not differ significantly in disease recurrence rate and overall survival. Per findings, pelvic lymphadenectomy may be avoided in patients with an intraoperative diagnosis of low-risk endometrial cancer. Multivariate Cox regression analysis indicated association of only surgical-pathologic stage > Ia with increased odds of disease recurrence.
