Effect of oocyte donor stimulation on recipient outcomes: Data from a US national donor oocyte bank
Human Reproduction May 05, 2020
Hipp HS, Gaskins AJ, Nagy ZP, et al. - Researchers aimed at ascertaining the effect of ovarian stimulation in an oocyte donor on the IVF cycle and obstetric outcomes in recipients. From 2008 to 2015, they conducted a retrospective cohort study of 350 oocyte donors who underwent a total of 553 ovarian stimulations and oocyte retrievals. The oocytes were vitrified and then distributed to 989 recipients who had 1,745 embryo transfers. The median number of oocytes retrieved was 30 (range: 9–95) per ovarian stimulation cycle. Live birth was reported in 856 of the 1,745 embryo transfer cycles (49.1%). Analyses revealed that in oocyte recipients, the proportion of usable embryos but not the live birth delivery rate or obstetric outcomes are affected by the higher donor oocyte yields.
