Effect of non‐recommended doses vs recommended doses of direct oral anticoagulants in atrial fibrillation patients: A meta‐analysis
Clinical Cardiology Mar 15, 2021
Liu X, Huang M, Ye C, et al. - Among patients suffering from atrial fibrillation, researchers examined how non‐recommended doses vs recommended doses of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) could impact effectiveness as well as safety outcomes via this meta‐analysis and systematic review. Relevant studies until December 2020 were found from PubMed and Ovid databases. The meta‐analysis involved 11 studies. According to findings, increased risks of stroke or systemic embolism and all‐cause death were observed in relation to non‐recommended low dosing of DOACs vs recommended dosing of DOACs. Ischemic stroke, myocardial infarction, gastrointestinal bleeding, intracranial bleeding, and major bleeding were not. Further study is suggested to assess these findings.
