Effect of neutropenic diet on infection rates in cancer patients with neutropenia: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
American Journal of Clinical Oncology Mar 01, 2019
Ball S, et al. - In this study, 388 individuals were assessed to quantify the impact of a neutropenic diet on infection rates in cancer patients with neutropenia. They noticed that patients included largely had acute myeloid leukemia (AML), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), or sarcoma. They found infection in 53.7% of subjects in the neutropenic diet group and 50% in the unrestricted diet group. They concluded there was no relationship between a neutropenic diet and a decline in the risk of infection in those with neutropenic cancer.
