Effect of methylprednisolone on pain management in total knee or hip arthroplasty: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
Clinical Journal of Pain Sep 12, 2018
Liu G, et al. - Researchers searched PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library for randomized controlled trials comparing methylprednisolone (MP) vs placebo for patients undergoing total knee or hip arthroplasty (TKA/THA) to assess the efficacy and safety of MP for pain management following TKA/THA. Findings support the efficacy of intravenous MP in significantly improving early postoperative pain and the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting following TKA and THA. Intravenous MP is identified as a promising strategy in rapid recovery to total joint arthroplasty.
