Effect of lymphadenectomy on the prognosis for N0 gallbladder carcinoma patients: A study based on SEER database
Cancer Medicine Sep 17, 2021
Wu B, Shen Y, Chen X, et al. - N0 gallbladder carcinoma (GBC) patients exhibit a significant survival benefit in correlation with receiving a greater number of lymph nodes removal (LNR). Hence researchers support the necessity for an extended lymph node dissection strategy in N0 GBC patients.
From the database named SEER (Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database), researchers identified 1,406 N0 GBC patients for inclusion.
LNR was not performed in the majority of N0 GBC patients undergoing cancer-directed surgery (64.5%).
LNR was identified as an independent favorable prognostic factor of N0 GBC in multivariate regression analysis.
Finally, a nomogram for precise prediction of the prognosis of N0 gallbladder cancer patients was developed.
