Effect of liraglutide on myocardial glucose uptake and blood flow in stable chronic heart failure patients: A double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled LIVE sub-study
Journal of Nuclear Cardiology Aug 10, 2017
Nielsen R, et al. – Researchers undertook this investigation to determine if the liraglutide–induced increase in heart rate and possibly, cardiac events in chronic heart failure (CHF) patients could be attributed to its impacts on myocardial glucose uptake (MGU), myocardial blood flow (MBF) and MBF reserve (MFR). Findings revealed that in non–diabetic CHF patients, liraglutide did not exert any effect on MGU, MBF, or MFR. Moreover, any potential increase in cardiac events in these patients appeared not to involve alterations in MGU, MBF, or MFR.
