Effect of levosimendan in patients with acute decompensated heart failure
Herz Apr 14, 2018
Zhou S, et al. - Clinical efficacy of levosimendan for patients with acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) was examined. Researchers pooled prospective clinical studies on the effects of levosimendan alone or vs other agents (placebo [glucose], dopamine, furosemide) on left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) level, and heart rate (HR) in patients with ADHF. Studies published up to May 2017 were included. Regardless of the comparator (except for dopamine), levosimendan infusion appeared to reduce BNP in patients with ADHF. Furthermore, it improved LVEF and increased HR after vs before use, though not compared to controls.
