Kavya UR, et al. - Intravenous dexmedetomidine is known to prolong both sensory and motor blockade when administered along with subarachnoid anesthesia for infraumbilical surgeries. In this current investigation, a prolongation of both sensory and motor blockade was noted as a result of administration of intravenous dexmedetomidine, either as bolus or bolus-plus-infusion, with intrathecal hyperbaric bupivacaine in patients scheduled to undergo elective infraumbilical surgeries under subarachnoid anesthesia.
