Kizilgul M, et al. – Goal of this research was to investigate whether pancreatic fatty infiltration has a negative impact on metabolic outcomes following total pancreatectomy with islet autotransplantation (TPIAT). It was considered that patients with HPF were more likely to be insulin dependent, with higher post–prandial glucose excursion, demonstrating that intrapancreatic fat might lead to beta–cell dysfunction with detrimental effects on diabetes outcomes after TPIAT.
