Effect of intranasal vasoconstrictors on blood pressure: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial
The Journal of Emergency Medicine Sep 12, 2018
Bellew SD, et al. - The effects of intranasal vasoconstrictors on blood pressure were determined via performing a single-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial from November 2014 through July 2016. researchers recruited adult patients being discharged from the Emergency Department (ED) at Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minnesota) in this work. They observed no significant increase in blood pressure in relation to the administration of intranasal vasoconstrictors in patients without a history of hypertension. The findings support the administration of these medications to patients who present to the ED with epistaxis, regardless of high blood pressure.
