Effect of inspiratory synchronization during pressure-controlled ventilation on lung distension and inspiratory effort
Annals of Intensive Care Oct 11, 2017
Rittayamai N, et al. - Researchers sought to determine the impacts of three pressure-controlled (PC) modes on tidal volume (VT), transpulmonary pressure (PL ), inspiratory effort (esophageal pressureÂtime product, PTPes), and airway occlusion pressure, P 0.1. Furthermore, the utility of P 0.1 for assessing patient effort was also investigated. Findings revealed that non-synchronized PC mode versus more synchronized modes lowered VT and PL in spontaneously breathing patients but could increase patient effort and may need specific adjustments.
