Effect of initiating statin therapy on long-term outcomes of patients with dyslipidemia after intracerebral hemorrhage
Atherosclerosis Jul 17, 2019
Lin MS, et al. - In this investigation involving 8,927 patients (1,613 patients receiving statin therapy and 7,314 patients not taking statins), researchers evaluated if cardiovascular outcomes were influenced by the initiation of statin therapy following intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). After ICH, they compared patients with and without statin therapy prescribed retrospectively. Compared to patients who did not receive statins, those who received statin therapy were linked to lower risks of all-cause mortality, cardiovascular death and ICH. According to findings, the initiation of statin treatment in patients with dyslipidemia after ICH was correlated with a reduced danger of recurrent ICH and death.
