Effect of hypertension across the age group on survival outcomes in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest
The American Journal of Emergency Medicine Jun 29, 2018
Jung E, et al. - Whether or not hypertension is associated with survival outcomes in cardiac arrest patients across age groups was investigated. Using the national cardiac arrest registry of out-of-hospital-cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients who survived to hospital admission from 2012 to 2016, researchers analyzed 11,610 patients (61.0% hypertensive patients and 39.0% non-hypertensive patients). In view of the possibility of good neurological outcomes among those over 80 years of age, they suggested no poor impact of hypertension on survival outcomes independently for all ages.
