Effect of furosemide on urinary oxygenation in patients with septic shock
Blood Purification Jul 28, 2019
Osawa EA, et al. - In this pilot prospective observational cohort study, researchers investigated whether patients with septic shock have urinary oxygen tension (PuO2) measurements similar to those demonstrated in experimental sepsis and whether these measurements would detect alterations caused by the administration of furosemide. This study included seven adult patients with septic shock admitted to intensive care unit. According to the findings, the low values stated in experimental models of sepsis were reflected by PuO2 measurements in patients. After furosemide administration, a rise in PuO2 values was seen with a response independently related to greater diuresis.
