Effect of flurbiprofen and S-flurbiprofen patches on multimodal pain management after total knee arthroplasty: A prospective randomized controlled trial
Journal of Arthroplasty May 04, 2020
Tsuji M, Kobayashi N, Yukizawa Y, et al. - In view of reports of higher efficacy of multimodal analgesia for postoperative analgesia, researchers here examined the efficacy of 2 patches after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Pain management was performed using oral administration, local periarticular analgesic injection, and patches in 79 included knees that underwent unilateral TKA for osteoarthritis. Random assignment of the knees to the flurbiprofen patch (FPP), S-flurbiprofen patch (SFPP), or control (no patch) group was done. Outcomes support the efficacy and safety of both patches as part of multimodal analgesia for postoperative TKA. The groups did not differ in the duration of hospitalization.
