Effect of dexmedetomidine infusion on hemodynamic responses in microsurgery of larynx
Journal of Anaesthesiology Clinical Pharmacology Mar 21, 2018
Basantwani S, et al. - Given that suspension laryngoscopy causes prolonged stimulation of the deep pressure receptors of the larynx leading to adverse circulatory responses and consequently cardiac complications, researchers herein evaluated the efficacy of dexmedetomidine infusion for reduction of this hemodynamic stress response. Findings demonstrated that dexmedetomidine infusion not only attenuated the hemodynamic stress response during laryngoscopy, intubation, and microlaryngeal surgery but also was associated with better recovery profile.
