Effect of deprivation on IVF outcome: A cohort study
BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Dec 08, 2019
Richardson AL, et al. - Researchers examined the effects of socioeconomic deprivation on IVF outcome independent of the number of cycles undertaken. They conducted a retrospective review of prospectively collected data of 3,091 women who underwent their first NHS-funded, single, fresh embryo transfer between January 2012 and December 2017 at a tertiary level fertility clinic in the North of England. Overall, the clinical pregnancy (CP) rate was 35.9% and live birth (LB) rate was 31.3%. The analysis revealed significantly less likelihood of achieving a CP and LB among more socio-economically deprived patients vs less deprived patients independent of the number of cycles of IVF undertaken.
