Effect of canagliflozin on left ventricular diastolic function in patients with type 2 diabetes
Cardiovascular Diabetology May 31, 2018
Matsutani D, et al. - The impacts of canagliflozin on left ventricular diastolic function in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) were determined in this first prospective study. Study participants underwent echocardiography for left ventricular diastolic function evaluation. The primary study outcome was a change in the septal peak early (E) diastolic filling velocity/septal early diastolic mitral annular tissue velocity as a parameter of left ventricular diastolic function. For the first time till date, it was demonstrated that canagliflozin could improve left ventricular diastolic function within 3 months in patients with T2DM. In patients with substantially improved hemoglobin values, the benefit was particularly apparent.
