Effect of calories-only vs physical activity calorie expenditure labeling on lunch calories purchased in worksite cafeterias

Viera AJ, et al. - Researchers undertook a quasi-experimental study to examine the effect of physical activity calorie expenditure (PACE) food labels vs calorie-only labels on point-of-decision food purchasing in three worksite cafeterias in North Carolina. Following the collection of a year of quarterly baseline data, one cafeteria prominently displayed PACE labels, and two cafeterias prominently displayed calorie-only labels. Outcomes revealed no higher efficacy of PACE labeling than calorie-only labeling in reducing lunchtime calories purchased in this workplace cafeteria setting.
