Effect of bystander CPR initiated by a dispatch centre following out-of-hospital cardiac arrest on 30-day survival: Adjusted results from the French National Cardiac Arrest Registry
Resuscitation Sep 15, 2019
Noel L, Jaeger D, Baert V, et al. - Researchers investigated the prognosis of a bystander’s cardiac cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) initiated by the Dispatch Centre (DC) following out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Among 85,634 included patients, the statistical study focused on 18,185 patients [12743 (70.1%) men: the average age 70.1 years]. Survival at D30 in the absence of CPR, with bystander initiation and with DC initiation was 5.11%, 8.86%, and 7.35%, respectively. Survival at D30 with favorable neurologic prognosis (CPC 1-2) was 76.30%, 83.69% and 82.82%, respectively. Thus a suitable option is bystander CPR initiated by the DC following out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.
