Effect of bariatric surgery on CKD risk

Friedman AN, et al. - Whether bariatric surgery influences CKD risk, was investigated in this present study. Treatment with bariatric surgery was found to be associated with an improvement in CKD risk categories in a large proportion of patients for up to 7 years, specifically in those with moderate and high baseline risk. Considering CKD risk in evaluation for bariatric surgery was supported in this work.
