Effect of antithyroid antibodies on women with recurrent miscarriage: A meta‐analysis
American Journal of Reproductive Immunology Apr 15, 2020
Xie J, Jiang L, Sadhukhan A, et al. - In this meta‐analysis, researchers explored the connection between the prevalence of recurrent miscarriage (RM) and thyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPO‐Ab) or antithyroid antibodies (ATA) and assessed the thyroid‐stimulating hormone (TSH) level in TPO‐Ab‐positive women with RM. In addition, they analyzed the treatment effect with levothyroxine (LT4) for RM. The data presented in this work showed a link between thyroid autoimmunity per se and the prevalence of RM. Euthyroid women who are positive for ATA are at higher risk of RM. For positive‐TPO‐Ab women with RM, the TSH level is higher than the negative‐TPO‐Ab women. And supplementation with LT4 will potentially increase the rate of live births.
