Effect of aerobic and resistance exercise intervention on cardiovascular disease risk in women with early-stage breast cancer: A randomized clinical trial
JAMA Oncology May 06, 2019
Lee K, et al. - Researchers performed this randomized clinical trial with 100 overweight or obese women who had stage I to III breast cancer to investigate the influence of exercise on the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases in these patients. Participants were randomized to either the usual care or exercise group. Participation in a 16-week exercise intervention was correlated with a significantly lower 10-year risk of developing cardiovascular disease, as determined by the Framingham Risk Score, among patients with early-stage breast cancer. These findings support the efficacy of supervised clinical exercise for reducing the 10-year risk of cardiovascular disease in early-stage breast cancer patients.
