Effect of administration of a proton pump inhibitor for ulcerative differentiated early gastric cancer prior to endoscopic submucosal dissection
Digestive Endoscopy Dec 11, 2020
Wang J, Shan F, Li S, et al. - Researchers conducted the study for analyzing the extent of ulcer healing and clinical effectiveness of proton pump inhibitor (PPI) administration for ulcerative differentiated early gastric cancer (EGC) prior to endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). A total of 214 ulcerative differentiated EGC patients treated with ESD were retrospectively examined, of which 129 were given PPI prior to ESD, and 85 were not. According to findings, the ulcer healing rate and complete ulcer healing rate varied significantly between the PPI and non‐PPI groups, respectively. Following PPI administration, partial or complete ulcer healing predicts differentiated EGC confined to the mucosa.
