Effect of a self-management support intervention on asthma outcomes in older adults: The SAMBA Study Randomized Clinical Trial
JAMA Aug 10, 2019
Federman AD, O’Conor R, Mindlis I, et al. - Researchers analyzed the impact of a comprehensive, patient-tailored asthma self-management support intervention for older adults on clinical and self-management outcomes through a three-arm randomized clinical trial involving 391 adults aged ≥ 60 years with persistent, uncontrolled asthma. Findings revealed that there were no significant differences in outcomes among patients receiving the intervention in home vs a practice setting. The authors concluded that an intervention focused on the needs and barriers of patients improved asthma outcomes among older adults and self-management behaviors.
