Eating disorders and disordered eating behaviors among women: Associations with sexual risk
International Journal of Eating Disorders Jul 10, 2019
Fergus KB, et al. - Researchers investigated whether eating disorders or disordered eating behaviors are associated with sexual risk in young women. They analyzed data of young women ages (18–26 years) from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health (N = 5,899) identifying a correlation of having either an eating disorder or reporting any disordered eating behavior with a greater number of new sexual partners and lower odds of condom use. These findings emphasize considering screening young adults with eating disorders for sexual risk behaviors.
