Early Ventricular Tachycardia or Fibrillation in Patients with ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction Undergoing Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention and Impact on Mortality and Stent Thrombosis (From the HORIZONS-AMI Trial)
The American Journal of Cardiology Aug 26, 2017
Kosmidou L et al. – This study investigated the association between early ventricular tachycardia or fibrillation (VT or VF) and long–term clinical outcomes in patients with ST–elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) treated with primary percutaneous coronary intervention. In conclusion, STEMI was strongly associated with 3–year increased rates of death and stent thrombosis with VT/VF occurring prior to coronary angiography and revascularization. Further trials are required to elucidate the mechanisms involved in increased risk of early stent thrombosis in patients with early VT/VF.
