Early treatment response predicts outcome in paediatric ulcerative colitis: Gastroenterology: Inflammatory bowel disease
Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition Jul 31, 2018
Gasparetto M, et al. - Researchers evaluated the clinical predictors of outcomes in children with ulcerative colitis (UC). The age of the participants included in the study ranged from 2–18 years. An 80% likelihood to require biologics or major surgery within 18 months was suggested by the failure to achieve remission at 3 months. Low albumin, low haemoglobin at diagnosis, paediatric ulcerative colitis activity index (PUCAI) at 3 months, and nonresponse to steroids at 3 months were included in the predictors of a severe disease course.
