Goldberg LR, et al. - This study was performed to assess the rate of seizure recurrence within 14 days of first, unprovoked seizures in children and to identify associated risk factors. In addition, researchers assessed the risk of recurrence at 48 hours and 4 months. They observed a substantial risk of seizure recurrence 14 days after first unprovoked seizures in children, with younger children at higher risk. For these children, they recommended prompt completion of an EEG and evaluation by a neurologist.
