Early recurrence of first unprovoked seizures in children

Academic Emergency Medicine Apr 18, 2018

Goldberg LR, et al. - The rate of seizure recurrence within 14 days of first unprovoked seizures was determined in children and associated risk factors were identified. Secondarily, the researchers sought for the risk of recurrence at 48 hours and 4 months. They noted a substantial risk of seizure recurrence 14 days after first unprovoked seizures in children, with younger children at higher risk. For these children, prompt completion of an electroencephalogram and evaluation by a neurologist is appropriate.
