Broskey NT, et al. – Keeping the objective in mind, researchers demonstrated that the pattern of gestational weight gain early in pregnancy, regardless of gestational weight gain (GWG) later in pregnancy, had the greatest impact on infant size at birth. Moreover, interventions initiated early in pregnancy may facilitate better adherence to the GWG guidelines and minimize the risk of large–for–gestational–age (LGA) and SGA infants, a potential precursor for childhood obesity.
