Early predictors of clinical and mental outcome in tuberous sclerosis complex: A prospective study
European Journal of Paediatric Neurology Apr 02, 2018
Benova B, et al. - Authors intended to detect the early predictors of intractable epilepsy, intellectual disability (ID) and autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in the cohort of tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) patients initially diagnosed with cardiac rhabdomyomas (CR) by analyzing the clinical, neuropsychological, electrophysiological and neuroimaging data. A connection was reported between adverse mental and clinical outcome with intractable epilepsy and the severe anatomical brain involvement. Hence, a tailored protocol was developed for early identification of TSC patients at a higher risk of developing intractable epilepsy with its deleterious effect on cognitive outcome.
