Early outcomes and patterns of failure following proton therapy for nonmetastatic intracranial nongerminomatous germ cell tumors

Pediatric Blood & Cancer Feb 14, 2018

Mokhtech M, et al. - Physicians designed this study to assess the outcomes for children with nongerminomatous germ cell tumors (NGGCT) treated with proton therapy (PT). In children treated for NGGCT, early outcomes suggested the high conformality of PT did not compromise disease control and yielded low toxicity. This pattern of failure data contributed to growing evidence suggesting chemotherapy followed by focal radiotherapy alone was inadequate in controlling localized NGGCT.
