Siciliano RF, et al. - This study sought to assess prosthetic valve endocarditis (PVE) annual incidence and to evaluate its current classification based on the epidemiological distribution of identified agents, and their sensitivity profile. Findings revealed occurrence of most PVE cases within 120 days after valve surgery and indicated the same etiological agents in this period. Researchers recommended revisiting the current cut-off level of 365 days for classification of early-onset PVE.
