Shah S, et al. - Researchers assessed the data to estimate the importance of recognizing early onset cytopenia following rituximab (a monoclonal antibody against CD20 receptor ) in lupus nephritis. They noticed cytopenia including neutropenia as a late event (>4 weeks) in some cases. But a few cases of early-onset neutropenia (EON) and thrombocytopenia were also observed in the literature. They noted a good response of neutropenia to granulocyte colony-stimulating factor treatment and thus recovered the platelets spontaneously.
