Early morphologic changes in trapeziometacarpal joint bones with osteoarthritis

Schneider MTY, et al. - Researchers characterised the morphological differences between healthy and early osteoarthritic trapeziometacarpal (TMC) bones. They also ascertained the effectiveness of using a statistical shape model (SSM) to detect early signs of osteoarthritis (OA). As per data, in the early osteoarthritic TMC joint, morphological degeneration was well underway. This degeneration demonstrated promise for a clinical tool that can detect these features automatically.
