Early hospital readmissions and mortality in patients with decompensated cirrhosis enrolled in a large national health insurance administrative database

Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology Sep 11, 2017

Scaglione SJ, et al. - This research aspired to assess the relationship between early readmission and mortality in decompensated cirrhosis. The physicians concluded that patients with decompensated cirrhosis had high rates of hospitalization and often experienced an early readmission. In patients with decompensated cirrhosis for at least 1 year following initial hospitalization, an early readmission to an acute care hospital was an independent predictor of mortality.
