Early fundoplication is associated with slower decline in lung function after lung transplantation in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease
The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Feb 19, 2018
Roy SB, et al. - In view of the observation that fundoplication slows lung function decline after lung transplantation in patients with Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), researchers search for the optimal timing of fundoplication. Findings revealed a higher forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) 5 years post-LTx among patients with early fundoplication. In transplant recipients with GERD, early fundoplication might protect against GERD-induced lung damage.
