Early fecal microbiota transplantation improves survival in severe Clostridium difficile infections

Hocquart M, et al. - Researchers performed a retrospective cohort study to investigate if early fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) could improve survival in hospitalized Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) patients, particularly those with severe infection. They observed a dramatic reduction in mortality with early FMT. Therefore, they recommended considering FMT as a first-line treatment for severe CDI.
