Early continuous renal replacement therapy improves nutrition delivery in neonates during extracorporeal life support
Journal of Renal Nutrition Nov 21, 2017
Murphy HJ, et al. - This retrospective chart review was performed to test the hypothesis that early continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) utilization in neonates on extracorporeal life support (ECLS) ameliorates the need for fluid restriction and allows providers to prescribe higher parenteral nutrition (PN) volumes leading to better nutrition delivery. Findings demonstrated that early CRRT institution in this group of patients allowed for administration of greater volumes of PN with improved protein delivery. Data suggested these patients could experience improved nutritional outcomes.
