Dyslipidemia and statin use in youth and adults ages 10-<40 years in the T1D Exchange Clinic Registry
Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism Aug 05, 2018
Lyons SK, et al. - Experts assessed the presence of dyslipidemia, statin therapy use, and correlations between not meeting target low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) (< 100 mg/dL [< 5.55 mmol/L]) and other CVD risk factors in individuals aged 10-<40 years in the T1D Exchange clinic registry. For all age groups, findings suggested a greater likelihood of individuals not on statin therapy with LDL-C above target to have ≥ 1 additional CVD risk factors vs with LDL-C in the target range. While LDL-C was in the target range in most individuals not on statin therapy, those who did not have it in target range demonstrated a greater likelihood of having ≥1 additional CVD risk factors.
